Building a global group after a private equity deal
Private equity backed group of 20+ entities across Asia-Pacific, the Americas and Europe
US$300mfiscal period audited across 14 jurisdictions
20+entities brought into one consolidated group
First-time IFRS adoption
The challenge
After a private equity transaction, a set of privately owned entities had to become one group, produce its first consolidated IFRS financial statements and pass global, regional and local audits.
What I did
- Built and ran the group's first consolidation process and financial statements, including business combination accounting for 20+ entities, currency translation and minority interests.
- Led the first global consolidated audit, coordinating finance and audit teams across 14 jurisdictions.
- Wrote the technical memos: business combinations, IFRS 3, 9, 15 and 16, goodwill impairment, going concern and tax.
- Integrated two businesses acquired mid-year (four entities) into the group ledger, with acquisition and part-period accounting.
The result
The first group audit delivered for a US$300m period, with a consolidation process the finance team could repeat.
